Tomorrow I shall mostly be .....

Doing housework and sorting out my wardrobes! Therefore bouncy music is needed to get shit done! This Killers video always makes me want to be a blonde again , I think she looks like a real life Mark Ryden painting , fabulous! :)

Shampoo!

I have been recently trying to test out as many cruelty free shampoo and conditioners I can find on a quest to find the perfect one. It's proved a very hard task and I'm not sure I'm there yet but it's pretty close! I thought I would do a review of each of the products and try to tell you the pros and cons of each product , and if I thought they were worth a second look.

First things first. My hair is naturally fine , and I have health problems that can cause it to thin. It's also coloured and I'm in the last legs of growing out bleach damage from about 2 years ago. This gives you an idea of my hair and obviously no shampoo or conditioner is going to work miracles! However, if it can make my stressed hair look good , then if you have reasonably normal hair , it should make it goddess like! *no promises ;)

So here goes..... no pictures for this post but I'll link everything where possible :)

Superdrug ~ my first port of call when I went cruelty free. I tried their Pro Vitamin Shampoo and Conditioner which is their version of Pantene and I also tried the Coconut and Sweet Almond Shampoo and Conditioner . These are great price wise , they smelled nice and they did the job but unfortunatley they made me break out on my scalp, back and chest. I also found them quite drying on my skin too. ***I have since found out that Superdrug may not be as good as I thought , read my post here

Paul Mitchell ~ I got this from a local salon but you can find your local outlet here. I used the Super Strong shampoo and conditioner as I have damaged hair. These products were ok , they were very expensive and I didn't think they were worth the money. I wouldn't repurchase.

Lee Stafford ~  These are available from any Boots store but you can check out the whole range here. I used the hair growth shampoo and conditioner. They smell amazing! they did an o.k job on my hair , and they were better than the Superdrug and Paul Mitchell ones. I have got some of the Lee Stafford styling products, The Morrocan argan oil and the dry shampoo , both of which are excellent and I would recommend. I also like the fact that he's an Essex boy and all the packaging is hot pink! ;)

Faith in Nature ~ I got this from my local health food shop on the recommendation of another friend, her hair was super shiny and she told me that this was the reason! It doesnt really smell of anything remotely hempy or meadowfoamy , but more like lemon and ginger, which is wonderful but I think they should change the description! This was definitley a hit although I found you have to use quite a lot of shampoo to lather up particularly if your hair is oily. Best of all , it didnt break me out or make my scalp itch!

Alba Botanica ~ So this is the brand I'm on now. I have the Honeydew melon hair wash and conditioner and it smells AMAZING!! The shampoo is thicker and I dont have to use so much even if my hair is super oily. I find this works well in conjunction with the Faith in Nature conditioner! You can get Alba Botanica here. I got a couple of their facial products which I'll review in a seperate post.

Ok , well I hope this proves useful if you haven't already fallen asleep by now!

I think finding good cruelty free replacements for hair products has been pretty hard. I love the Faith in Nature and Alba Botanica brands but I've yet to find the holy grail to tame my barnet.

The search continues......................

Bloody fuming!

I'm so mad right now. Are there any honest companies out there that are willing to stop animal testing and mean what they say??? Superdrug, my heroes or so I thought , are owned by A W Watson. This parent company operates the five year rolling rule when it comes to animal testing.

This link will provide a better explanation of what this means......here

So they could still be testing products now that will in 5 years time be considered cruelty free.

I'm gutted. truly gutted. Not only are they the largest high street presence of BUAV approved products but I had begun to rely on them for my staple beauty products.

Does being BUAV approved even mean anything anymore?

Fuming.

House Stuff

Hello! Sorry for being away, just have had lots to do and no time for blogging!

Just a quick post to show you a couple of house finds!

First up is this new washing up brush, couldn't resist his sparkly eyes! Anything to brighten up washing the dishes!

Second is this amazing cushion with a very grumpy Tudor lady on it! When I saw it in the shop it made me smile and I had to have it, she just looks so pissed off :D Looks great on our sofa and breaks up the browns and blacks nicely :)

I'll be back soon with a more in depth post , until then have a great weekend xx

Happy Valentines Day

Hope you have a lovely day if it's something you celebrate! Unfortunately budget constraints, work shifts and a sick child mean that we can't this year. But our 1 year anniversary is next month so hopefully we'll celebrate that instead xx

Sparkles!

I got two new Barry M nail polishes the other day! Can't speak highly enough of these, cruelty free, affordable and great colours. Their glitter polishes are always nice and dense so you don't need four coats to get a good look!

The first is called Amethyst Glitter, it's a clear polish base with purple, gold, pink, navy and turquoise glitter in it, so sparkly , the swatch here is just two coats, I think I'd look good over a navy or purple polish as well to give it more depth.

The second is called Copper, a light coppery colour base polish with fine gold and copper glitter, looks gorgeous on, it's swatched here with two coats and no top coat but I'd definitely top coat it for extra shine!

Cruelty free as always ;) you can buy at Superdrug or www.barrym.com xx
